20 TPU to put out to tender in Moscow this year
Almost 20 construction projects of transport hubs (TPU) will be put out to investment tenders until the end of this year, said Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Mayor for urban policy and construction.
He noted that each project is unique. “Our main goal is to make transfer for passengers from one transport mode to another as comfortable as possible. Also, additional space and infrastructure will be built at the expense of investors, depending on the needs of a certain district,” said Marat Khusnullin.
Earlier, the bids were inveted for three projects: TPU “Rasskazovka”, TPU “Lefortovo”, TPU “Seligerskaya”.
It has to be recalled that the Moscow Institute of the Master Plan has developed a program for construction of transport hubs, which should evenly cover the urban area. It is planned to build 271 TPU. Of these, 102 transport hubs will be based on a simple principle: plane park-and-ride facilities with canopies over public transport stops and redevelopment of the adjacent territory.
Another 169 hubs will be constructed as complex multi-level buildings with parking lots, waiting rooms, public transport stops. Using a covered walkway passengers will easily transfer to different kinds of transport. They do not even have to go outside, so this type of transplant is called “dry feet”.
However, a major transport hub involves providing passengers different kinds of services, creation of infrastructure facilities. It is not only about shops, cafes or restaurants, TPU will host medical and sports centers, banks and post offices, etc.
