500 km roads will be built in Moscow in next 5 years
485 km of roads, 100 new bridges, tunnels and overpasses and 60 pedestrian crossings will be put into operation by 2023. This information was provided to the information agency Interfax by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Government of Moscow on Urban Development Policy and Construction Marat Khusnullin.
“We do not intend to reduce the pace and volume of road construction: within the next five years, no less than 90 km of roads will be built and reconstructed in the capital every year. In total, 485 km of roads, 100 new bridges, tunnels and overpasses and 60 pedestrian crossings will be put into operation by 2023, “Marat Khusnullin said.
According to the deputy mayor, Moscow today is the only metropolis in the world in which the pace of road development exceeds the pace of development of the territories.
The head of the construction complex recalled that since 2011 815 km of roads, 227 bridges, tunnels and overpasses have been built, reconstructed and opened for traffic in Moscow, 215 new ground and underground pedestrian crossings have appeared.
“During this time, built and modernized 14 major traffic junctions on the Moscow Ring Road, reconstructed 9 key urban arteries – highways. The implementation of the key megaproject of the road network has been launched – chord construction: North-West and North-Eastern chords, as well as South Rock, and now we are starting to design another chord – Southeast, “Marat Khusnullin added.
