Andrey Nikitin: Russia nearing European countries in terms of doing business
It is essential to work on improving investment climate in all the regions, not only in Moscow and St. Petersburg. This was announced by Andrey Nikitin, CEO of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives.
“We approached the European countries in terms of doing business. This fact has two implications: first of all, we should not ease off, because we still have quite disappointing positions in terms of international trade and issuance of construction permits,” said Alexander Nikitin, reports TASS.
Many businessmen use the major world rankings when choosing projects and countries for investment. Doing Business ranking is one of them. Each year, independent international experts of the World Bank assess the situation with administrative barriers in 189 countries around the world. The ranking is based on anonymous surveying of builders and developers and reflects the ease of doing business, including with regard to construction.
Russia – in the name of its capital, where the measurements were taken – rose from 119th to 115th place.
In recent years the Russian Federation shows a steady growth in the rankings which measure this area. Thus, since 2014 Russia has moved from 178th to 115th place. In Moscow, the number of procedures has dropped by more than 2.5 times – from 36 to 14. The index of procedures cost has decreased by 25%.
