Information models increase design precision

Modern information technologies make it possible to create not only models of individual houses or building complexes, but also make it possible to predict the development of entire territories and urban systems, Oleg Grigoryev, deputy director of the Institute of the General Plan of Moscow for Production Issues, told reporters.

BIM-models help urban planners simulate and adjust the development of the transport system, calculate the required number of new jobs for a particular area, assess the environmental load on the territory, etc. Such models help designers to create economically feasible projects for specific buildings.

“This technology very sharply raises the accuracy of the project and increases the speed and variability of its implementation. With those organizations that carry out design estimates, we immediately exchange models. We give them a model, and they do not start from scratch, but issue design and estimate documentation using this model, ”Oleg Grigoryev explained.

For example, now Moscomarchitecture specialists are developing models for renovation projects. Such models contain not only information about the permissible location of buildings, taking into account urban development standards, but also elements of landscaping, underground utilities and new roads, the expert said.
