New builds to be more convenient for physically challenged people
Guidelines on accessibility of buildings and facilities for physically challenged people will be reconsidered before the end of 2016, said Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation Mikhail Men.
“It is important to take into account issues relating to barrier-free environment prior to project implementation. In future it will be mandatory to use standards which will be developed by design institute Strelka in relation to people with disabilities,” the minister said, reports the agency urban news “Moscow”.
Guidelines “Accessibility of buildings for people with limited mobility” were adopted in 2012, today it is updating according to the state assignment.
On September 30 the Ministry of Construction held a regular meeting with the All-Russian associations of persons with disabilities, where they decided on the last controversy concerning these guidelines. Until the end pf the year the redrafted document will be approved.
