Putin and Sobyanin open MCD
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin launched traffic along the first two lines of the Moscow central diameters, Odintsovo-Lobnya (MCD-1) and Nakhabino-Podolsk (MCD-2). The opening ceremony was held on November 21 at the Belarusian station.
The lines connecting the capital with the suburbs will operate in the land metro mode. MCD-1 and MCD-2 connected 66 stations, with 27 of them you can go to the metro and the Moscow Central Ring (MCC). The MCD trains will run at intervals of 5-6 minutes at rush hour. You can pay for the fare with the Troika card: it must be transcoded at the box office or subway or railway machine.
The launch of the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) will not only improve the transport situation in the city, but also contribute to increased investment in the city’s economy, said Marat Khusnullin, deputy mayor of the capital on urban planning and construction issues.
“The development of transport accessibility of territories increases their investment attractiveness. Thanks to the MCD, which will operate in the ground metro mode, a comfortable urban environment will appear in the surrounding areas”, said Marat Khusnullin. The deputy mayor added that more than half a million jobs could be created in territories adjacent to diameters.
