Revision of construction regulations to create barrier-free environment to be completed by year-end

Construction regulations have to be completely revised to create a barrier-free environment by the end of 2016, said the Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities of Russia Elena Sierra at a meeting of the Presidential Commission on Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

According to her, in 2015 ten construction codes of practice have been revised, all the work in this area will be completed before the end of this year.

“The interdepartmental commission on the base of the Ministry is carrying out a work for revision of town planning legislation with a view to develop a comprehensive approach to formation of a barrier-free urban environment,” said Elena Sierra.

The deputy minister has noted that the change of construction regulations would allow updating the requirements for design and construction of buildings intended for public use.
